How To Stay Healthy On The Job
Whether you work for someone else or you work for yourself you still need to stay healthy. Illnesses can make you lose work time, which also means losing income. When it’s not that difficult to stay healthy why wouldn’t you do what you can in order to?
Not only should you stay up on your vaccinations, and get your flu shot every year, but you also want to deal with preventative care at home. Even the simple act of washing your hands on a regular basis, or using antibacterial gel when you can’t, can help keep you from spreading and getting cold and flu germs.

Get Enough Sleep
Getting the right amount of sleep is just as important as washing your hands on a regular basis. When you don’t get enough sleep your body is more opened up to illnesses. You weaken your immune system.
A couple other reasons to ensure that you are getting enough sleep are to make sure that your body has time for healing and that you don’t get irritable. When you sleep your body takes that time to heal and replenish your energy. When you don’t get enough sleep you not only risk illness but you also can get more irritable and that can cause arguments at home and at work.
Get Your Vitamins
While a boost of vitamin C in the winter is a great way to help you fight off colds, you should ensure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs all year round for optimal health. You can get them through the foods you eat and through supplements. Which works for you depends on what you normally eat on a daily basis.
Eating a healthy breakfast is an important part of the day, and will help you get through the early parts of the morning. You want to have a healthy lunch too, though. Once breakfast wears off you can find yourself out of energy, but protein rich foods can boost your energy all over again. That means nuts and meats are your lunchtime friends, along with fruits and vegetables.
Take Time To Destress
No matter how much you love your job you can still experience stress from work. There are ways to create a work environment with less stress, though – simply work hard at it. Have a space where people can take a time out, integrate some relaxing colors and scents, and promote fitness. A good walk on lunch time can relieve a ton of stress.
De-stressing when you’re at home is also useful to help get through the workday. Meditate in the morning before you go to work, and do it again after work. Take a break between your job and the work you need to do at home as well.
